Empathetic Hair Care Program

Empathetic Hair Care is a community‑focused free program offering private, respectful basic hair services for individuals experiencing homelessness or transitioning into stability. Each service is provided with care that honors comfort, privacy, and personal boundaries. Powered by Comb & Confide.

Empathetic Hair Care provides:

Haircuts, beard trims (no razor), hot-tools hairstyling for woman and basic hair care needs.
A calm, private environment serviced by Comb & Confide, a mobile RV (Services will also be serviced outside the RV)
The mobile unit is not a full‑service salon; shampooing is not offered at this time.

All services are offered through partnerships with shelters and community organizations. This program is not available for public booking.

Who I Serve

The Empathetic Hair Care Program partners with organizations to provide basic hair services for:

Men, women, and children experiencing homelessness
Individuals in transitional housing
Residents preparing for employment or housing appointments
Community members receiving support through local programs

Health & Safety Standards

To maintain a safe and sanitary environment for all clients, individuals must be free of:

Active lice
Bedbugs
Contagious scalp conditions
Any infestation requiring treatment

Partner organizations are responsible for screening and providing clearance before services are offered. This ensures safety for clients, and the mobile environment.

Service Boundaries

I reserve the right to decline or discontinue a service at any time if a situation feels unsafe or misaligned with the environment I provide.

Service Location

Services inside the mobile salon are provided at the stylist’s discretion. When an indoor service is not appropriate for the situation, services may be performed outside the RV if conditions are safe and suitable.

Scheduling & Availability

The Empathetic Hair Care Program is offered on a limited, appointment‑based schedule. I offer services in 2–3-hour blocks, scheduled in advance with each partner organization.

Standard Availability I typically set aside time on Wednesdays, with the option to extend the session when needed.

Flexible Options If Wednesday does not work for your organization, we can arrange another day with advance notice. The only day I am unavailable is Monday.

This program is designed to be sustainable, respectful, and not rushed or high‑volume.

Accessibility

The Empathetic Hair Care Program operates from a mobile salon with limited wheelchair accessibility. If an individual uses a wheelchair or has mobility needs, alternative arrangements may be explored, as long as it is safe for both the client and the stylist.

How Partnership works

Empathetic Hair Care operates through partnerships with shelters, transitional housing programs, and community organizations. Services are scheduled in advance and coordinated directly with staff to ensure safety, privacy, and readiness.

Partner responsibilities include:

Identifying individuals who would benefit from services
Ensuring clients meet health and safety requirements
Providing a private, respectful staging area when needed
Supporting client flow and communication during service days

This collaborative approach ensures each session is calm, organized, and professionally managed.
